PCB pre-drying
Pre-drying each PCB according to the manufacturer's requirements before mounting is critical to eliminate moisture. This can cause serious soldering problems. It is therefore a standard part of mounting printed circuit boards with electronic components. Our new drying oven provides precise temperature control thanks to the implemented PID controller, which allows us to set the optimal conditions for efficient and even drying.
Air humidity and PCB storage issues
Why is atmospheric humidity a risk to the quality and reliability of PCBs and electronic components? With long-term storage in unsuitable conditions, moisture can penetrate deep into the materials and cause oxidation, corrosion, or even mechanical damage during subsequent soldering. During the planned storage of bare boards, they must be stored in a dry environment in their original packaging - vacuumed and with a moisture indicator inserted. For these purposes, Safiral's warehouses are climate-controlled and monitored. Even so, we always recommend to customers the shortest possible time between the production of printed circuit boards and the assembly of components.
The influence of miniaturization and technical problems in soldering electronic components
The main danger for Moisture Sensitive Devices is not moisture itself, but its expansion and evaporation during the soldering process. This phenomenon can damage both the components themselves and the printed circuit boards. The negative effects of moisture during remelting are often "invisible" and may not even be detected during testing, but can lead to malfunctions and reduced reliability of electronic products. In extreme cases, the so-called "Popcorn effect" can occur, when the component literally "explodes" and bursts like popcorn.
Excellent oven properties
The temperature range of the newly purchased furnace (0-300°C) allows the temperature to be adjusted to specific needs. Thanks to the PID controller with the Auto-Tune function, the temperature can be conveniently corrected. The built-in PID controller even heat distribution inside the zone, which is key to consistent drying results. The advantage is also the large capacity of 196 l. It provides enough space for drying large quantities of PCBs and components.
MP Dry cabinets for long-term storage
In addition to the new drying oven, we also have two MP Dry cabinets, which are used for long-term storage of printed circuit boards. These cabinets provide a controlled environment with low humidity (from 1% to 5%), which ensures that PCBs remain in perfect condition even during extended storage. Thanks to this low humidity, it is possible to use low temperatures during drying, which are gentle on the components and their packaging.
